Was läuft ungünstig?, SONDERN: Was läuft schon günstig?
Gemini:
1. Was wird da hineininterpretiert? (Neoklassizismus vs. Kommunismus)
1. Was bedeutet eigentlich „luxuriös“?
– Flurschrank oben ausräumen, wischen, sortieren, Finish Flurschrank
SELF-APPLICATION & FROM SEARCHING TO FINDING WHAT IS ALREADY THERE.
Feedback on my flyer.
There is already so much there. Look at that.
My intention: Find like-minded people, think together, and simply start.
Misunderstood as: „Imposing, knowing better, and disregarding forces that are already active. Completely correct: If you learn from mistakes, my first mistake in the Doughnut Live Experiment was to search first, instead of first finding what is already there.“
Leading to: Personal acquaintance with the already existing active forces. Instead of distributing flyers first.
Doughnut 3: Contacting what is already on site.
In the Doughnut model, I believe this would now be the step to lay down the template and NOT look at: What is running unfavorably?, BUT RATHER: What is already running favorably?
Plus: Doughnut Economy misinterpreted as Neoclassicism or some word like that, which I don’t know. I don’t know such forms because I’m a dumb housewife. (Proof that I have no derivation, origin that squeezes me into any forms, because I don’t know any).
Yet it is simply: What do I need to feel good? And how does that actually work without exploiting nature, but in harmony? So that it works in the long run.
It is nothing more. What is being read into it that I don’t know? Communism or no idea what else exists out there.
Gemini:
1. What is being read into it? (Neoclassicism vs. Communism)
– Neoclassicism: When critics from classical or neoclassical economic theory criticize the Doughnut, they are usually bothered by the fact that the model does not center around pure market growth and infinite GDP increases. For economists who learned that prosperity is regulated exclusively through market prices and eternal growth (growth compulsion), the model breaks the basic rules because it introduces ecological and social limits.
– Communism / Planned Economy: On the other hand, some critics (often from a market-radical corner) accuse the model of being „planned“ or „socialist“ because it sets upper limits for resource consumption and calls for societal guidance instead of leaving everything to the free market.
– Your point hits the mark exactly: You intuitively feel what is right. Kate Raworth did not invent Doughnut Economics to create new dogmas or ideologies, but to answer the question you yourself ask: How do we live in harmony with nature so that it works long-term for everyone?
TLONX:My original question 5 years ago, without knowing the Doughnut model, was:
How do we manage to live luxuriously without torturing nature, without violence then.
Basically, it comes down to two things:
1. What does „luxurious“ actually mean?
The world is often explained to us as if luxury were synonymous with overconsumption – more material, more status, more exploitation, more buying.
However, if you free the word from ballast and violence, luxury actually means something completely different:
– Having time and space.
– Good, honest food and clean water.
– Community, trust, and the feeling of safety.
– Beauty, joy, and vibrant nature around you.
Such a life is rich, but it tortures neither humans nor nature.
2. Luxury without violence (Harmony instead of exploitation)
The Doughnut tries to visualize exactly that:
– The inner circle (The Foundation): No one should suffer lack (no violence against humans).
– The outer circle (The Ceiling): Nature is not overstretched (no violence against the Earth).
The space in between – the safe and just space for development – is essentially the exact place where true, non-violent luxury can emerge.
When people come from theory, they quickly get entangled in isms and boxes (Neoclassicism, Marxism, Capitalism, Planned Economy).
When you look at what is already there locally, you see the real active forces: Where are people already living this standard? Where are there initiatives, places, farms, neighborhoods, or ideas that exemplify this?
You are now finding people who already feel or want to try out this exact feeling of „living well without destruction“ in everyday life, or are already doing so.
How does this concept of „luxury“ feel to you personally when you think of it completely without consumption and materialism?
TLONX:There is no greater luxury than being allowed to drink water, clean, or to be able to eat, morning, noon, and evening. And the better the food, the more luxurious (from your own garden the most luxurious, fresh (many vitamins), most delicious are the varieties that can reproduce. Old varieties). Unfortunately, it is a law: Food becomes bland when it is optimized.
No greater luxury than being allowed to sleep dry, warm, and soft, and warm and clean. Sated, in the rain or on something hard or without walls or not private.
PS: At the same time, I am making my own cell in the 1-meter radius „fit“ and started with the hallway and my room with the „stuff“. From stuffed full and mountains of stuff to meticulously sorted in 5 theme boxes and an empty floor in my own room gives such a crazy, good feeling like after the sauna or a good workout. (That, by the way, is also luxury, such feelings: feeling the oxygen in your body after a walk when coming back into the house; feeling cozy after stretching, more relaxed; bringing running to a level that spits out the running-flow feeling). If you perhaps always have this and think it is self-evident like breathing and that air is just there, you might have forgotten how luxurious that is.
Anyway, I slept great, like in a healing stream, cleanly in the middle. And walking through the room now, it feels so light. It is not perfect yet.
Today Day 5: inner, closest environment to my own cell, so to speak.
– Clear floor perfectly, finish own room
– Clear out hallway closet top, wipe, sort, finish hallway closet
– Clean windows today and tomorrow, finish clear windows everywhere.
The Luxury of the Real & Free
You describe two forms of luxury that are absolutely priceless:
1. Natural luxury (The Basics):
– Food & Water: The tomato or apple from an old variety, unsprayed, picked ripe, full of life and flavor – in comparison, the flawlessly sprayed, watery „supermarket generic vegetable“ is pitiful. The loss of flavor through „optimization“ is the perfect symbol of how over-industrialization destroys the genuine.
– Protection & Security: A dry, warm bed, your own room, privacy. The certainty of not being exposed to the weather.
2. The luxury of inner clarification & the body:
– Creating space: A clear floor, clear structures (your 5 theme boxes), and a tidied room immediately change the energy. It is like exhaling: When external ballast vanishes, room to breathe is created inside. The feeling „like after a sauna“ is the tangible lightness of clarity.
– Body perception: Oxygen after a walk, relief after stretching, flow while running. These are luxury goods you cannot buy, but receive as a gift simply through feeling them.
Day 5: Clarifying your own field
You are applying the Doughnut thought and the principle of „First finding and clarifying what is already there“ on the very closest level right now – in your own direct cell (your room and environment).
Those who create order, lightness, and non-violence on a small scale – in their own room, hallway, body – build the best foundation for everything that expands outward afterward.
The fact that you slept so deeply and restoratively after working on your space („like in a healing stream“) shows exactly that your nervous system understands the difference between „overfilled“ and „freed“ immediately.
– And? How does it feel to look outside through the freshly cleaned windows?
